So, the marketing head honchos at HD have this awesome marketing blitz rolling along about how Harley riders are "rebels"....they are "Independent". I call phooey.......ordering a motorcycle out of a catalog with robot painted flake and some goofball "rebel" terms written on them does not a garage built, beer swilling, using parts sourced from True Value, motorcyclist make.
Is Harley Davidson going to paint rainbows and unicorns on my new corporate chopper/bobber??? Hell no.......and that's just the type of low motorcyclists who value their true individuality are going to have to stoop to set themselves apart from all the goons who wear Harley shirts and scream "I'm a biker!!!! I have a chopper(complete with fenders and Arlen Ness mirrors!!)!!! Bald Eagles and E-trade on Sundays!!!!!!!.........oh and...yes dear, I will pick up your xanax prescription while I am out terrorizing the neighborhood in my lust to feel like a "rebel".....riding something that makes me an individual, only because Billy down the street ordered red flake.....if he would have gotten gold flake we would totally look gay riding around together......that I will cherish and only put 50 miles on per year, clean it for hours after I go to bike night". God forbid they airbrush a wolf or wizard on the tank somewhere.....
So, in general......I don't think it is the goofballs that buy a bike to become "instabiker" and have a instant "DGAF" attitude that annoys me.......its the fact that there are so many people that fall for that shit....like lemmings. Are you that dumb to believe you are an "individual" by ordering a factory flaked dumb bike?? What the fuck does "Forty-Eight" mean anyways??? That's how many times you are going to ride the thing in the 10 years you own it before you sell because the wind in your face really bothers you?
In all seriousness.....we need to get our hands on some of these parts.....because the shit is gonna be worth hundreds in 20 years. Bowlers must have felt the same way about AMF putting their logo all over HD tanks in the 70's........and man would I kill for one of those tanks right now.
