Some idiot at the bar last night came up to us all snarky like and was saying "yea these are cool, but I'm into old Triumphs" (Chris and I were on our modern Triumphs last night). He then went on to say that he had a "1966 TR6 TRIDENT". ....."UHHHH, say that again?" I asked. He repeated, but added "it's a triple!". I had to use all of my power not to call him out and ruin his ego. You see, the TR6 model is a single carb 650 twin, that at least did in fact exist in 1966. The TRIDENT however being a 750 triple (he got that part right) was not even introduced until 1968. So how this guy has a "'66 TR6 TRIDENT" is beyond me. Was he just barking off names of bikes he had heard trying to sound like he had something cool, and figured we wouldn't know the difference because we were on those pesky modern bikes? Does he really own some kind of bike that he honestly thinks is a '66 Trident?? Why do people do what they do?? Why? Here is a photo of a 1968 Triumph Trident - the first year of it's existence.
